Training & Certification

Professional programmes that turn legal knowledge into working capability — for institutions, teams, educators and communities. Delivered online, in person or hybrid, with assessment-based certification.

Our Approach

Awareness tells people a law exists. Capability tells them what to do on the day it matters.

Most institutional training stops at awareness. A session is held, attendance is recorded, and the file is closed. When an actual complaint arrives, a disclosure is made, or a parent asks a hard question, nobody is any better prepared than they were the week before. SWAMITRA's programmes are built to close that gap. Every course is designed backwards from the moment of use — the inquiry that has to be conducted fairly, the disclosure that has to be received without causing further harm, the drill that has to be run, the record that has to stand up to scrutiny.

That is also why our certification is assessment-based rather than attendance-based. A participation certificate confirms that somebody was present; it says nothing about whether they can do the work. Where a role carries real responsibility — an internal committee member, a designated child protection officer, a master trainer — the certificate is issued only after the participant has demonstrated competence through a written assessment, a practical exercise or a supervised delivery. Certificates carry a verification reference so an employer, a board or a regulator can confirm them independently.

The third principle is that we work ourselves out of the room. Programmes are structured so that institutions build their own master trainers, using our curriculum, materials and quality standards, and then continue delivering without us. A school that has three certified trainers on staff can induct every new teacher for years. That is the only version of scale we have found that survives a change of principal, a change of HR head or a change of government.

Designed for the moment of useEvery module ends in a decision the participant will actually have to make, not a definition they will have to recall.
Assessed, not attendedRole-critical certification requires demonstrated competence — written assessment, mock inquiry or supervised delivery.
Contextualised to the institutionCases, policies and templates are adapted to the sector, size and language of the institution being trained.
Built to continue without usInstitutions leave with trained master trainers, curriculum access and the materials to keep delivering.
Training Programmes

Nine programmes across compliance, protection, literacy and leadership

Each programme has its own curriculum, methodology and certification route. Open any course for the full module structure, participant profile and registration details.

Certification

Three certification pathways

The pathway depends on the responsibility the participant carries after the training, not on the length of the session.

Participation Certificate

Issued for awareness and sensitisation sessions — employee POSH awareness, community legal literacy, student and parent sessions. It records the programme title, date, duration and delivery mode, and confirms that the holder attended the full session.

  • Issued to every participant who completes the session
  • Suitable as evidence of institution-wide awareness coverage
  • No assessment component

Assessment-based Certificate

Issued where the participant will hold a defined responsibility — internal committee membership, child protection response, safety implementation or classroom delivery. Competence is tested before the certificate is issued.

  • Written assessment on the legal and procedural content
  • A practical component: mock inquiry, scenario response or micro-teaching
  • Re-assessment is offered where a participant does not qualify first time
  • Master Trainer certification additionally requires a supervised practicum

Digital Verification

Every certificate carries a unique reference and a verification link, so an employer, board, auditor or regulator can confirm authenticity without contacting the holder.

  • Unique certificate reference printed on the document
  • Verification confirms holder, programme, date and validity status
  • Institutions can request a consolidated record for all their certified staff
  • Master Trainer status is subject to periodic revalidation
Certificates are issued in the name of SWAMITRA Foundation. They evidence completion of a SWAMITRA programme and are not a statutory qualification, licence or registration under any law.
Training Methodology

How the sessions actually run

Every programme combines these six methods. The proportion changes with the audience — a committee certification is heavy on case work and mock inquiry, a community camp is heavy on dialogue and plain-language explanation.

Duration & Delivery

Formats and how to choose between them

Duration is driven by the depth of competence required. Delivery mode is driven by geography, group size and how much practical work the programme involves.

Training formats, typical duration and suitability
FormatTypical durationBest suited for
Half-day 3 to 4 hours Awareness and sensitisation for large groups — employee POSH awareness, staff child-protection orientation, student and parent sessions. Participation certificate.
One-day 6 to 7 hours Foundation-level competence for a defined role — legal awareness, constitutional literacy, workplace dignity and grievance handling. Assessment optional.
Multi-day 2 to 5 days Certification programmes requiring practice and assessment — internal committee certification, school safety implementation, teacher capacity building, Train the Trainer.
Online Live sessions of 2 to 3 hours across consecutive days Geographically dispersed teams, multi-location employers and individual participants. Includes breakout discussion and digital assessment.
Offline Half-day to 5 days on site Programmes with strong practical content — mock inquiries, role play, walkthrough safety audits, drills and supervised delivery practice.
Hybrid Online theory plus 1 to 2 days on site Large institutions covering theory online at scale, then bringing committee members or master trainers together for practical work and assessment.

Regional-language delivery is available for most programmes. Session timing, batch size and the academic or working calendar are agreed with the institution before scheduling.

Who Should Attend

Seven groups, seven different reasons

Programmes are streamed by role. The same subject is taught very differently to a Class 9 student and to the committee member who may one day inquire into a complaint.

Registration enquiry

Tell us who needs training and what for. We respond with available dates, a proposed format and a written scope for your approval.

Individuals may register for open cohorts, and institutions may request a dedicated programme for their own staff. If you are unsure which programme fits, describe the situation in the message field and our team will recommend a route.

  • We reply to every enquiry within three working days
  • Institutional programmes begin with a short scoping conversation before anything is scheduled
  • Community programmes are delivered free of cost, subject to region and capacity
  • Nothing is confirmed until you have a written scope, date and format in hand

FAQs

Questions we are asked before every programme

Most programmes are open to anyone in the relevant role — no legal background is required, and nothing is taught on the assumption that you have one. Foundation-level programmes such as Legal Awareness and Constitutional Literacy are open to all adults, and student versions are streamed by age group. Advanced programmes carry a prerequisite: Train the Trainer requires prior completion of the subject programme and demonstrated facilitation experience, and Leadership Development is intended for those holding institutional decision-making responsibility. Where a programme has a prerequisite, it is stated on the course page.
Pricing is quoted per engagement rather than published as a rate card, because cost depends on programme, duration, group size, delivery mode, language and travel. You receive a written quotation before anything is confirmed, and there are no charges beyond it. Community legal awareness programmes are delivered free of cost, subject to region and capacity, and free or subsidised delivery is available for government schools and small non-profits on request. All published frameworks, toolkits and templates in the Resource Centre remain free to download whether or not you train with us.
Yes. Most programmes run online, offline or hybrid, and the course page for each one lists the modes available. Two programmes — Leadership Development and Train the Trainer — are offline or hybrid only, because both depend on sustained in-person practice that does not transfer well to a screen. Online sessions are live and facilitated, not recorded lectures, and include breakout discussion, scenario work and digital assessment. For large institutions, hybrid is usually the most efficient route: theory online at scale, then a short on-site block for the people who need practical work and certification.
Awareness and sensitisation sessions carry a participation certificate. Role-critical programmes carry an assessment-based certificate issued only after a written assessment and a practical component are completed successfully. Every certificate carries a unique reference and a verification link so an employer, board or auditor can confirm it independently, and institutions can request a consolidated record covering all their certified staff. Master Trainer certification is additionally subject to a supervised practicum and periodic revalidation.
Yes, and most institutional programmes are. Customisation typically covers the sector context and case material, your existing policies and reporting pathways, the language of delivery, session length to fit an academic or shift calendar, and the mix of awareness and certification tracks across different staff groups. What does not change is the core content and the assessment standard — those are fixed so that a SWAMITRA certificate means the same thing everywhere. Send an institutional enquiry and we will begin with a scoping conversation before proposing anything.
Four to six weeks is comfortable for a single-institution programme and allows time for scoping, participant nomination and any pre-reading. Multi-location rollouts and Train the Trainer cohorts are usually planned a quarter ahead. Open online cohorts are announced on the News page and fill on a first-come basis. If you have an urgent compliance deadline or are responding to an incident, say so in your enquiry — we hold capacity for time-critical requests and will tell you honestly whether we can meet the date.
